Session: The Cloud Gold Rush: How Businesses Manage Data in a Cloud-First World

Cloud is increasingly seen as a key IT strategy for businesses, as over 90% of enterprises are shifting to a multi-cloud strategy according to a study by The 451 Group. Not only are businesses adopting the cloud more, they are also increasing their use of cloud resources by shifting from a “cloud transformation” strategy to a “cloud first” strategy where any new resources are added first in the cloud, not in a data center. How will core enterprise workloads, particularly their large unstructured data sets, move to the cloud? This talk examines the impact of a cloud-first strategy and the goldmine it creates for data management in the cloud.

Key Takeaways

  • Learn how data management is evolving in the cloud and why it is a $18B+ opportunity for innovation
  • Learn the differences between structured and unsttuctured data and why there is so much innovation now around unstructured data
  • Learn why data management and data science is becoming a key industry with opportunities for women in technology
  • Learn about the competitive landscape and the challenges of developing data management solutions in the cloud
