Session: Leveraging Technology for Social Impact

We often find it so daunting or inaccessible to tackle social problems that we scare ourselves out of any action at all. This session will cover how to use the Facilitator Approach for social impact in order to build accessible, context-informed tech solutions to complex social problems.

This session will cover:
- the importance and impact of tech solutions in accelerating development in emerging markets
- considerations for tech solutions to social problems
- using the Facilitator Approach to develop inclusive tech solutions *with* users rather than for them

Key Takeaways

  • The Facilitator Approach teaches us that anyone can be a facilitator for effective impact and therefore that everyone can tackle complex social problems.
  • Strategies and tools for including target communities in the design and development of technological solutions for social impact.
  • Leveraging technology for social impact doesn't only mean developing intricate high-tech solutions; prevalent social problems can be addressed with simple technological applications.
