Session: Overcoming Imposter Syndrome and Building Confidence
As a traditionally trained architect with over two decades in the construction industry and more than 15 years in construction technology, I have been part of the 11% of women in this male-dominated field and 1.5% of women in construction technology. I have faced many challenges and learned valuable lessons throughout my career. Overcoming these challenges and developing strategies to become an industry leader is crucial. Common self-doubt, such as imposter syndrome, can significantly impact career growth. By sharing my personal story, I aim to empower women in the industry and beyond to build confidence and thrive in their careers.
Bio
With over two decades of experience in Digital Construction and BIM management, Lilian has successfully coordinated and managed project teams across the UK. Her self-driven personality and confidence in working with senior management and stakeholders have enabled her to deliver projects globally.
Lilian has directed BIM implementation strategies on major projects. Her portfolio spans diverse sectors such as aviation, education, shopping centers, defense facilities and spaceports. As an industry pioneer in data-driven design, BIM workflows and digitalization, she actively develops digital strategies, data management and innovative solutions throughout project life cycles.
She leverages the latest advancements in technology, automation and AI to maximize efficiency and drive excellence in architecture and construction. Committed to maximizing the benefits of Digital/BIM/AI/Technology in the AEC industry, Lilian continuously engages in learning, networking and skill acquisition in both UK and global markets.
As a Program Director for a Master’s course in Artificial Intelligence for Construction, she develops unique training session that align with her vision and the future needs of the construction industry.
