Session: Agile Physical Security And The Inevitable Paradigm Shift

Physical security is, often, operationally focussed. While the organisational goals and strategy are used to form the initial security designs, many of the original driving factors become lost in the midst of time and change.

How, then, can you be sure that the security decisions made today, provide the expected results? More importantly, how do you know that your current security organisation satisfies the needs of your rapidly developing business?

As a security professional, you need an overview, a digital twin, that enables rapid response and provides assurance that your expertise is implemented and communicated.
If you want to stay ahead of the game, it is time for a new paradigm.

Bio: Linda Howson

I have a technical, university level background and have 25+ years of work experience, in a wide variety of industries, ranging from internal research and development, to external customer related roles. The last four years have been focussed on research and development with respect to physical access governance and the impact that this has on business continuity. Considerable time has been devoted to field investigation and the actual challenges experienced by all levels of the security organisation. Prototypes have been developed, and tested in the field, to validate hypotheses for addressing challenges and to analyse the impact of potential solutions. These prototypes have produced surprising results regarding the need for a different approach to physical security and form a basis for the proposal for the use of a digital twin.
