Session: The Power of Community

Within the SOAR model, the "A" stands for Aligning Resources. In this workshop, we will explore the importance of identifying and engaging two sets of resources - those who are committed to helping you achieve your goals and those who may have important information, perspective or insights necessary at specific points in your journey. You will walk away from this session with tools to help you begin building your community.

Bio

Through Dragonfly Coaching, LLC, Lisa DeAngelis, PhD helps leaders at all levels move from knowledge to wisdom to action. Lisa has published several peer-reviewed articles on leadership, teamwork, and transformation. In addition, through the Core Leadership Institute, Lisa has helped facilitate a high-potential executive education program at Wharton, at the Women’s Leadership Summit at Novo Nordisk, for key faculty and staff at West Point; for the Human Resources leadership team at LEGO; for the senior leadership team at Hershey’s US; and for nonprofit executives at 1440 Multiversity. She has also acted as Teaching Associate in Harvard Business School’s Authentic Leader Development course, and Brown University’s Entrepreneurial Leadership in Innovative Firms course.

Lisa is also the director for the Center of Collaborative Leadership at UMass Boston. The center has established a new paradigm for how organizations and individuals become successful—through collaborative leadership, a process built on teamwork, trust, and respect for diversity of thought. Lisa brings more than twenty years of divisional and corporate leadership experience to ELP. In her role as a leader within the Human Resource function she created strong business partnerships with line executives helping them to identify, clarify, implement, and achieve aggressive strategic objectives. Her corporate experience with companies of all sizes - from a 300-person start-up to a 32,000 person Fortune 500 global organization, and such diverse industries as call centers, insurance, construction management and IT consulting - served as a strong platform for her current work.

In 2013, Lisa presented her workshop, Many Voices One Team: Engaging Diverse Networks to Address Complex Issues, at the 15th Annual Global ILA Conference in Montreal. She was co-author of “Lessons from Teamwork,” published in the summer 2014 issue of Leader-to-Leader, and of the article, “Teamwork: Crucible for Learning about Collaborative Leadership,” presented at the 12th Annual International Conference on Management hosted by the Athens Institute for Education and Research, summer 2014. In addition, she was the author of “Creating a Global Community: Facilitating Discourse Among Engaged Stakeholders,” which was presented at the 25th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Business and Society in Sydney. In 2015, she co-presented, “Fostering Collaborative Leadership and Diversity: Report on a Midcareer Leadership Development Program,” at the 17th Annual Global Conference of the International Leadership Association. In addition, she co-authored “Teaching Leaders,” in the Journal of Leadership Education. Finally, she authored a chapter entitled, “Clarifying the Relationship between Transformative Teaching and Transformative Learning,” in the Springer Handbook of Personal and Organizational Transformation.

Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Bryant University, a Master of Business Administration degree from Regis University, and a PhD in Organizations and Social Change from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
