Session: When Ethics Counts: Whose Data?

Living in an ever-connected world is nothing new. The implications of being connected whether in wearables or in smart devices that capture our sentiments and predilections posit immediate questions as to data privacy and data governance. There is no doubt that with an ever growing hyperconnected network that a a data governance model is needed. What would be the role of Self-Sovereign Identity of SSI for example? How can we be in the middle of this data universe for control of our data? Is it too late?

Key Takeaways

  • Data Policy is OUR responsibility as technologists.
  • Self-Sovereign identity or SSI means that YOU must be in control. It's all about selective sharing.
  • There is an intersectionality to Trust. When Trust is broken, so an organizational brand. Do you care?
