Session: Applied AI in Healthcare: Navigating Challenges and Harnessing Opportunities Across Clinical and Administrative Domains
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming healthcare, offering significant potential to improve both clinical outcomes and administrative efficiency. This presentation explores the diverse landscape of AI applications in healthcare, highlighting three primary categories: traditional AI, agentic AI, and generative AI. Each type of AI can be strategically applied across different sectors of healthcare informatics, ranging from predictive diagnostics, treatment planning, and patient monitoring to administrative functions such as workflow optimization, billing, and resource management. Through illustrative examples, this talk emphasizes how emerging AI technologies are not only enhancing operational effectiveness but also reshaping decision-making processes. Despite the promising opportunities, healthcare organizations face challenges related to data quality, ethical concerns, integration into existing systems, and workforce readiness. Attendees will gain a structured understanding of how to leverage AI effectively while navigating its associated challenges.
