Session: Overcoming the Big Tech Layoff
How do you navigate a layoff with a visa timer? I was one of the 11,000 engineers impacted by the Meta layoff, one of the biggest in the tech industry. This talk will cover my story of experiencing this at the age of 25, fighting against the clock of 60 days set by visa constraints, and navigating a bad market. I will go over my strategy and process of finding a new job, preparing for interviews, figuring out the legalities that come with a layoff, and learnings I've had in the process.Key Takeaways

Bio
Pranjali Kokare is a Software Engineer at Meta with prior internship experience at Google, and Adobe Research. She graduated from Georgia Tech with a Master's in Computer Science, and from IIT Patna with a Bachelor's in CS. Honored with Adobe Research Women in Technology, Google Travel Grant, and multiple scholarships. Secured a patent, and published multiple research papers in the field of Computer Vision and Machine Learning.
