Session: Lifelong (Un)Learning - Leveraging Data to Forge Ahead
According to research by the UN Women, globally, women make only 77 cents for every dollar that men earn. Infact, research by the World economic Forum reveals that if the trends continue, it will take over 200 years to achieve pay parity.We often think that pay parity does not affect us. However, did you know that those who identified as women in computer programming typically earn only 72 cents for every dollar that male programmers make? This was a study published by CNN money that looked at salary within the U.S., for those individuals whose job titles were that of programmer or equivalent.
While a large part of disparity in the workplace is a result of decades worth of discriminatory practices, in this talk I will walk participants through what they can do to combat inequity for themselves, but also for others on their teams and in their spheres of influence.
We will talk about being learning agile, understand why unlearning is equally important as learning, and look at easily available resources that can help us be champions of equality and equity, around the world.

Bio
Dr. Bhaduri leads Global People Research and Analytics at McGraw Hill, where she manages research leveraging employee data from across 45 countries to generate data-driven insights for policy decisions impacting organizational effectiveness, culture, and talent. She has interdisciplinary expertise with a Ph.D. in Engineering Education and Master’s degrees (M.A. and M.S.) in Statistics and Mechanical Engineering, from Virginia Tech. Sreyoshi is also a maker of lists and itineraries, who likes statistics, loves dogs, practices feminism, dabbles in writing, and enjoys tea and long conversations.
