Session: How wearables can bridge the healthcare gap for women while ensuring data privacy

At Movano Health, we are designing a health wearable with women in mind, focusing on specifically addressing their unique health needs. Keeping women at the forefront of every product & UX decision is critical to deliver a product that can not only help make women healthier, but also bring them an experience that they will enjoy using. To get there, we continuously engage with a diverse set of women to better understand what we should prioritize. Sometimes these unique needs or insights are at odds with what’s been done before, the easiest path forward, or the most cost-effective option. However, we continue to invest in features and designs that will deliver a product different from anything on the market.

Through our own research with consumers, we’ve heard the following about what they feel is currently an opportunity in the wearables space, and we’re using these findings to determine our product roadmap going forward:

- Health data privacy and security has never been more important to women, so ensuring users’ data is encrypted and de-identified is key to building trust with our consumer.
- Women are looking for more personalized and timely insights from her device that help uncover the “why” behind what she’s feeling. We are building algorithms that deliver better insights and at just the right time, so the user gets the information most relevant to her and helps her understand her overall health.
- Consumers are looking for more reliable and accurate data so they can trust what they are learning about their health, which is why we are delivering medical-grade information across all our metrics.
- We are also designing a beautiful smart ring that’s not a complete circle, allowing for some flex to be more comfortable and accommodate swelling throughout the day.

Key Takeaways

  • How wearables can bridge the healthcare gap for women
  • The importance of medical-grade data in a wearable device
