Session: Industrial transformation in the time of COVID-19

The manufacturing sector has been in the middle of a paradigm shift to digitize the infrastructures. This is called the 4th industrial revolution which is about improving business outcomes such as Quality, Safety, Productivity applying Industrial of Things Technologies form AI to Deterministic Networking and Controls.

No manufacturer is immune to the pandemic, and much of their ability to navigate through this moment and execute these pivots depends upon their Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) digital capabilities. Until COVID-19 occurred, there are parts of world and sub segments of manufacturing that are still in the third Industrial Revolution, however COVID has provided a wake-up call to many small and medium manufacturers. “Necessity is the mother of all innovation”. Remembering the words of Intel’s founder Andy Grove, “Bad companies are destroyed by crisis, good companies survive them, great companies are improved by them.” With the current environment, we are hearing from manufacturers and suppliers that this unfortunate pandemic has only highlighted the need to accelerate the digital transformation of the industrial infrastructure.

Join Intel’s Sunita Shenoy to explore this moment of COVID-19 and how leaders can manage through it – and come out the other side stronger and more resilient. What are the key considerations and necessary risks that manufacturers must take? What can we learn from those that managed to pivot their operations and supply chains to meet the highly fluid and urgent needs of communities in crisis? What will the role of Industry 4.0 be post-COVID-19?
