Session: The Science of Reinvention: From Biochemist to Tech Leader
After earning a PhD in Plant Genetics and working in a multidisciplinary research group at the University of Nottingham, I took a career break to raise my children. Returning to the workforce was not a straight line, but it was transformative.
My journey from research scientist to CEO of a software company, and now founder of a tech consultancy, has been shaped by curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to start again.
This lightning talk explores how to navigate career transitions with confidence: recognising transferable skills, reframing setbacks as opportunities, and building a career that aligns with your values and evolving life.
It will resonate with anyone who has paused, pivoted or redefined what success looks like.
