Session: The impact of Certifications and Credentials in the untapped Community

Greetings, my name is Professor Tracey Sigers and I am the IT Department Chair with NCUS TEC career college where we offer industry credentials to dual enrollment for students and adults.
NCUS TEC serves our community by providing free certification/credential training to close the digital divide gap in the untapped communities.
We understand the technology industry is changing and growing and those in our untapped community must not just posse fundamental computing skills but broader based skills in order to compete for job placement and career opportunities in today’s society.
Why attend my Training: We will discuss the following:
1) We will discuss how we use workforce development after certifications are earned to create bridges with employers to gain careers at companies such as amazon, google and Facebook.
2) We will lead the discussion together on how certifications mobilize individuals to move beyond minimum wage jobs while providing an avenue for others to upskill and advance their careers.
3) We will discuss Strengthening the career/certification path to extend into the individuals’ families.
This training is about the impact to the community not just for now but for generations to come.

Key Takeaways

  • The importance of Certifications and Credentialing
  • The Impact of Certifications and Credentialing in Untapped Communities
  • The importance of upskilling and getting higher paying jobs
  • Taking a bite out of poverty through certifications and training-
  • Closing the digital divide
