Session: Data Science for Social Good
I'll bring my perspective on the potential of data science for social impact. I'll mainly share my experience on social data projects done with Rotaract and Data Science for Social Good Portugal . The presentation will mainly cover:- the journey of a data for good project, from scoping to delivery of results;
- the impact of data analysis on social good, with a case study;
- the current projects of Data Science for Social Good Portugal with different kinds of NGOs;
- the amazing work done by Data Science for Social Good Portugal on fighting COVID19.
Bio
My background on biomedical engineering provides me the knowledge and skills to seek solutions and implement them every time a new challenge comes up. Youthfulness never lets me give up. And passion keeps feeding me with enthusiasm to work towards new goals. I am currently working as an artificial intelligence and computer vision researcher to make subsea operations more efficient and sustainable. In general, I love to travel, to meet new people and to learn from them, to live new experiences and to work passionately to make people’s life better. At Data Science for Social Good Portugal I have the opportunity to do so everyday.
