Session: Breaking into IoT, Perspectives from a Gen Z Analyst

As a Gen Z, female analyst in tech, I bring a unique perspective to my research and coverage of Internet of Things technology in smart cities.

While my undergraduate focus was not on tech or IoT, I've leveraged research skills to explore smart cities and connect with city-leaders across the US. Faced with imposter syndrome as I navigate events and conversations, my female community at work has been a lifeline as I've built my confidence and skills in IoT, data analysis and survey work.

Key Takeaways

  • How to build confidence as young women in tech
  • Breaking into emerging technology from a non-tech background
  • The role digital natives and Gen Z will play in the work force, their demands and expectations
