The Role

As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.

There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and upgrade middleware software including WebSphere, WebLogic, Middleware, IIS, Tomcat, and Apache.
  • Manage and administer middleware environments, including deployment, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Implement and maintain security policies, access controls, and compliance standards for middleware platforms.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability, and implement proactive measures to optimize performance and ensure scalability.
  • Collaborate with development teams to support application deployments, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
  • Implement automation and scripting solutions to streamline middleware administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior administrators and cross-functional teams.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in middleware and cloud computing to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience for about 10+ years as a Middleware Administrator or similar role, with expertise in one or more managing middleware platforms such as WebSphere, WebLogic, Middleware, IIS, Tomcat, and Apache.
  • Strong understanding of middleware architecture, deployment patterns, and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, and administration of middleware software in a different environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python) for automation and orchestration tasks.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues in middleware environments.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Middleware Platforms: Proficiency in managing a variety of middleware platforms, including but not limited to IBM WebSphere Application Server,Oracle WebLogic Server,Apache Tomcat,Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) and Azure Middleware Services (e.g., Azure Service Bus, Azure API Management)
  • Familiarity with various operating systems like Linux ,Windows Server and Unix (e.g., IBM AIX, Solaris)
  • Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS) to configure network settings, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and optimize middleware communication.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python to automate routine tasks, configure deployments, and streamline middleware administration processes.
  • Knowledge of security principles, standards, and best practices related to middleware environments, including authentication and authorization mechanisms SSL/TLS encryption and Security compliance requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA)
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and knowledge of Azure Middleware services is a plus.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques to monitor system health, analyze performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and optimize middleware performance.
  • Understanding of backup and recovery strategies for middleware environments, including regular backups of configuration data, application artifacts, and system files to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
