Session: Leading is an art, not a science

There are no perfect people.

There are no perfect leaders.

Leading is a "messy" job to do it effectively because we all come with different motivations, different ways of thinking, and different experiences.

It's time to rethink how we enable the leaders of the future. We need to rethink how we lead ourselves effectively and then find ways to harness the messy of our teams.

Key Takeaways

  • There isn't just one way to lead.
  • A leader's job is to harness the uniqueness of each individual for maximum impact.
  • Our imperfections don't need to hold us back from being amazing leaders.

Bio

Melissa Carson is a global HR executive turned organizational strategy advisor and leadership coach. Several years ago, she realized she wanted to focus work on the things that she loves to do and at which she excels. This shift from corporate life means that she spends most of her time with leaders who want to create workplaces that don't suck, who want to lead themselves and their teams through change, and who want to continue to push the boundaries on what high performance means for them as individuals and their organizations.
