I have greatly built my network around industry conferences, mainly by attending and joining smaller group sessions or focused groups. I found at larger financial services conferences, attending the women client happy hours were always beneficial. I went to one last year and ended up bumping in to one of my late stage prospects, and discussed our love for mountain biking at the event, which I had no idea she was interested in until we started to discuss things outside of the industry. Sometimes it takes an in person event to connect whether it is work related or not, and I believe this helped me to sign this client by having a genuine connection and focusing on women events to help each other. The conference partner we were attending, the relationship manager for this prospect ended up making the introduction to me as I used to work with her in the past, so it was a matter of networking to get in with the people you want to be in with!

The diversity is important not only for the FINTECH landscape but financial services. It goes in to effecting the end clients on how they think about working with diversity internally, externally, and through partnerships.
