The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy and support highly available and scalable Hadoop Clusters for high data volumes.
  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of mission critical data
  • Prepare crystal clear documentation and specifications, including database design, coding & security standards, best practices, standard operating procedures and training materials
  • Troubleshoot and performance issues of batch jobs and should be able understand the code (Spark,python,java).
  •  Deep understanding of Cloudera Manager, Cloudera CDH/CDP  Hadoop Eco system.
  •  Will be responsible for end to end implementation ie gathering requirements, analyzing, designing, product upgrade, migration, coding and deployment to Production of the Cloudera  Hadoop product.
  • Experience in resolving  L3 and high severity  and performance issues on Cloudera.
  • Control the Hadoop clusters with proper access controls and apply the security with the tools Ranger, Kerberos
  • Integrate Solution knowledge between Hadoop and Reporting tools like Tableau, MicroStrategy, SAS.Talend .
  • Expert level of Cloudera/Apache Hadoop installation/configuration, patching, troubleshooting, performance tracking/tuning, back-up/recovery, remote monitoring skills with hands-on experience in-large and very dynamic environments.
  •  Defines, designs, and implements cluster solutions, as well as, proposes and implements system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
  • Resolves issues regarding patches and impact analysis, and application issue resolution and with developers, business analysts, and end users to provide Cloudera/Apache Hadoop system administration support. 
  • Scripting/Shell Languages , Unix shell scripting - Extreme proficiency with Linux and Shell/Python, SQL, Spark.
  • Understand the challenges of big data enterprise customers, design and innovate technologies or solutions for leveraging the Cloud Data Lake by driving various POCs through collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Takes care of the day-to-day running of data servers,
  • Experience in configuring AD, LDAP and Kerberos.
  • Should be able to troubleshoot mysql/postgress db issues .
  • Trouble components for big data platforms related to data ingestion, storage, transformations and analytics

  • Must be able to engage with technical people but also with semi-technical senior stakeholders and customer’s application team
  • Well-versed knowledge on Network, Storage and API’s creation and debugging
  • Experience of the following would be useful but is not essential:
  • Containerisation (Docker/ Kubernetes)
  • System admin and tuning of Linux based servers
  • MySQL/Cassandra/ElasticSearch Database administration
  • Cloud platform solutions (AWS/GCP/Azure)

Non-technical:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead the technical direction
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Open minded, willing to share knowledge and learn new skills
