Reflecting on My Journey
As a Women in Tech Global Awards 2025 winner, what does this recognition mean to you, and how does it reflect your journey and impact in tech?
Winning the Women in Tech Global Award 2025 is incredibly meaningful to me. It represents not only my professional journey in technology assurance but also the impact I strive to make beyond my day-to-day role. My career progression from entering IT audit as an associate to becoming a Technology Assurance Manager has been driven by continuous learning, resilience, and a commitment to excellence in a field where women are still underrepresented. This recognition affirms that technical expertise, leadership, and advocacy for inclusion can go hand in hand, and it reinforces my mission to inspire and support more women to build successful careers in technology.
Tech Industry's Most Rewarding Aspects
In your experience, what is the most rewarding aspect of working in the tech industry, and how has it influenced your career path?
The most rewarding aspect of working in the tech industry is its constant evolution and the opportunity to solve complex, real-world problems. Technology touches every organisation, and being at the intersection of business, risk, and innovation allows me to make a tangible impact. This dynamic environment has shaped my career by encouraging continuous growth and adaptability, while also enabling me to support organisations in navigating emerging technologies securely and responsibly.
My Tech Career Milestone
Could you share a defining moment or a key achievement in your tech career that has been particularly impactful or meaningful to you?
A defining milestone in my career was progressing into a managerial role within a relatively short period of time and being entrusted to lead complex IT audit engagements. This transition marked a shift from individual contribution to leadership guiding teams, advising senior stakeholders, and shaping control environments at an organisational level. Equally meaningful has been seeing the impact of my mentorship, particularly when young women I have supported choose to pursue careers in IT audit, cybersecurity, or technology more broadly.
Empowering Women in Tech: Real Stories, Career Advice, and Tips
From your experience, what essential advice and practical tips would you offer to women aspiring to establish a successful career in tech?
My key advice is to believe in your capability, even when you feel outnumbered or challenged. Seek out mentors, ask questions, and never underestimate the value of continuous learning. Both technical and soft skills are critical. Be proactive in gaining exposure to different areas of technology, build a strong professional network, and don’t be afraid to put yourself forward for opportunities before you feel “ready.” Growth often happens outside of your comfort zone.
Who would you recommend to join the WomenTech Network, and why?
I would recommend the WomenTech Network to students, early-career professionals, and experienced women in technology who are looking for community, mentorship, and inspiration. It is especially valuable for those navigating leadership paths or working in male-dominated tech fields. The network provides access to shared experiences, learning opportunities, and role models that can empower women to accelerate their careers and create lasting impact within the tech industry.
