Interview Spotlight: Meet Our Bangalore Chapter Leader Yashaswini KS

    1. What continues to inspire you to champion women in technology, and how has your journey with the network evolved over the years?

What inspires me the most is seeing how access, encouragement, and community can transform a woman’s confidence and career trajectory. I’ve met women who were incredibly talented but hesitant to take the next step, whether due to self-doubt, lack of mentorship, or limited opportunities. Having been in those shoes myself, and having seen many other women navigate similar challenges, I, now understand, how powerful it is when someone feels seen, supported, and uplifted. Each time I witness that shift through communities like WomenTech Network, it reinforces my commitment to this mission.

My journey with WomenTech Network has evolved from being a member, an ambassador eager to learn, to having the opportunity to represent the network as the Bangalore Chapter Leader. In this role I look forward to creating spaces for fellow women to learn, network and grow in career.

    2. Share with us more of your journey, your background, and what inspired you to develop your career in this direction

I graduated with a degree in Engineering and began my career as a software engineer and now heading the IT team as the Executive Director – IT at Garden City University. I oversee the digital transformation initiatives and looks for technology-enabled innovative solutions to enhance the overall institutional operations and student experience. The power of technology to bring innovation in the education sector is what inspires me to be in this career, implementing the right technology can improve the learning outcomes for students.

Alongside my professional journey, the volunteering experiences with communities like women in tech have enhanced my perspectives. As a working mother and professional in technology, I’ve myself experienced challenges what women face in balancing aspirations, responsibilities, and societal expectations. This is what inspires me to continue working towards communities that support women facing similar challenges and to handhold them through various walks of life.

I would encourage anyone, especially women at any stage of their career to join the WomenTech Network. Whether you are a student exploring possibilities, a mid-career professional seeking growth, or a leader looking to give back, the network offers something meaningful for everyone.

Bangalore is one of the world’s most vibrant tech ecosystems, and I envision building bridges between global conversations and local aspirations. I feel the focus should be on the following key areas:

    1. Skill-building & Learning Opportunities: Creating accessible events, workshops, and fireside chats on emerging tech, leadership, and personal development, enabling women to stay industry-ready.

    2. Collaboration with Companies & Universities: Partnering with organizations, startups, and academic institutions to open doors for internships, mentorship circles, returnship programs and early-career opportunities for women.
