1. What continues to inspire you to champion women in technology, and how has your journey with the network evolved over the years?
My journey with the WomenTech Network began in 2020 with a desire to connect with like-minded professionals. Over time, this initial curiosity grew into a deep commitment to building a strong and supportive community in Sofia, Bulgaria. Today, as Chapter Lead, I have the privilege of organizing impactful events, connecting women with global opportunities, and helping create an environment where every woman—whether she is just starting in tech or already in leadership—feels seen, supported, and empowered.
Recently, I also joined the WomenTech mentorship program as a mentor. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to learn from incredible professionals who have shaped my growth and encouraged me to strive for more. Becoming a mentor is my way of giving back—of sharing that same encouragement, offering guidance, and helping others achieve the confidence and clarity they need to move forward. Supporting women at different stages of their journeys brings me immense fulfillment and reinforces why this work matters.
This evolution has strengthened my belief that collective empowerment has the potential to reshape the tech landscape in Bulgaria and beyond.
What inspires me most is witnessing the power of community. When women come together—sharing experiences, challenges, and successes—their confidence grows, their ambitions expand, and their careers accelerate. Seeing this transformation firsthand is what motivates me every day to continue championing women in technology.
2. Share with us more of your journey, your background, and what inspired you to develop your career in this direction.
My journey in the IT industry began in 2005, when I started my career as a BI consultant and data engineer. For the first ten years, I immersed myself in projects that challenged me technically and helped me understand how meaningful data can be in driving real business outcomes. As the years passed, I discovered that what energized me most was not only solving complex technical problems, but supporting others—guiding teammates, sharing knowledge, and helping them grow.
This natural inclination toward mentorship shaped my career path. In 2018, I transitioned into a Tech Lead role, where I could combine my technical expertise with the responsibility of leading and coaching others. In 2021, I stepped into the role of Data & AI Manager, which allowed me to have an even greater impact on people’s professional journeys.
Throughout my career, I’ve learned that leaders are truly measured by the success of their teams. The same is true for mentors and teachers—and I’ve had the privilege of being all three. Teaching at the university further reinforced the importance of supporting individuals not only in their professional skill development but also in their personal growth, confidence, and aspirations.
Becoming part of the WomenTech Network was a natural extension of these values. It connected me with like-minded people who share the same passion for empowerment, inclusion, and creating opportunities for women in IT. I deeply admire the network’s mission and the wide range of activities aimed at uplifting women and helping them navigate and thrive in the tech industry.
My career has taught me that success grows when we lift others, and that belief continues to guide my work as a leader, mentor, teacher—and now, as an active member of the WomenTech community.

4. How do you envision creating more opportunities for women in tech across the Sofia region?
As Chapter Lead in Sofia, I envision a multi-layered, long-term programme that makes the tech industry accessible, welcoming, and empowering for women at every stage — from students and career-switchers to seasoned professionals and leaders. My aim is to make Sofia not only a place where women work in tech, but where they thrive, lead, mentor, and give back.
Locally, the WomenTech Network is organizing in-person and hybrid gatherings under WomenTech Sofia: tech talks, career panels, soft-skill trainings, and social networking sessions. This creates a safe and friendly environment where women can connect, exchange experiences, discuss challenges and ambitions, and build real peer networks.
As I recently became a mentor at WomenTech Network, I want to expand a Sofia-specific mentoring track: pairing early-career women, career-changers or mid-level professionals with senior women (or allies) for regular 1:1 guidance, support, skill-sharing, and career planning. Providing community support, accountability, and shared learning.
My professional development is strongly related to the universities in Bulgaria. Therefore, I plan to partner with local universities, technical schools, and student organizations to reach female students and graduates. Host career-exploration sessions, guest lectures, workshops — to discuss tech roles (data, AI, engineering, UX, product, etc.) and present real paths. Offer mentorship and internship guidance for students close to graduation or those considering switching into tech.
I can work with tech companies in Sofia — to encourage them to participate in WomenTech events, offer internships/jobs, and support mentorship programs.
WomenTech is organizing job fairs/career summits connecting women in Sofia with companies that prioritize diversity & inclusion.
Beyond technical skills: offer workshops on leadership, personal branding, communication, work-life balance, career growth and transition strategies. Encourage experienced women to step into mentoring or leadership roles, thereby building a cycle of growth — women helping women.
Regularly highlight success stories — women from Sofia who advanced their careers, switched paths, overcame challenges. Use local media, social platforms, WomenTech communication channels to showcase role models, normalize female leadership in tech, and show concrete outcomes.
Continue the development of a core team of volunteers, local ambassadors and advocates to help coordinate local events, mentorship, outreach and partnerships — making sure the movement grows and sustains itself beyond any single person.
Being part of the global WomenTech Network gives the Sofia chapter a powerful advantage. Here’s how I’d use the global backbone for local benefit:
- Access to Global Mentorship Platform: WomenTech offers structured mentoring programmes that match mentors and mentees worldwide — enabling women in Sofia to connect with experienced tech leaders globally.
- Global Networking & Career Opportunities: Through global conferences, career events, and a network of thousands of professionals and companies worldwide, our members can discover job opportunities, collaborations, international projects and remote roles.
- Annual Global Conference & Events: The Women in Tech Global Conference is a flagship event uniting tens of thousands of women globally for workshops, panels, keynotes, and career expos — exposing Sofia-based women to global insights, trends, and opportunities.
- Diverse Roles & Inclusive Opportunities: WomenTech supports every kind of tech role — from engineering, data & AI, product, design, to management, entrepreneurship, research or operations — which means women in Sofia with various backgrounds and interests can find their niche.
- Mentorship & Career Growth Statistics: WomenTech’s mentoring platform offers measurable benefits — mentees and mentors reportedly get promoted more frequently; many mentees become mentors themselves.
- Partnerships with Inclusive Companies: Through WomenTech’s collaboration with companies and startups globally, women gain access to organizations that prioritize diversity — increasing chances of fair hiring, inclusive culture, and career advancement.
By combining the global resources of WomenTech with a localized, hands-on approach in Sofia, I believe we can significantly expand opportunities for women — not only to enter tech, but to grow, lead, mentor, and shape the industry’s future in Bulgaria.
As a Chapter Lead and mentor, I am committed to helping build this vision: to create a living, thriving tech community for women in Sofia — one where support, mentorship, growth, opportunity and belonging are not exceptions but the norm.
If you are a woman in tech (or interested in moving into tech), I warmly invite you to join Women in Tech Sofia. Whether you want to learn new skills, find a mentor, grow your career, meet like-minded peers, or just explore what tech has to offer — our community is ready for you.
