Reflecting on My Journey
As a Women in Tech Global Awards 2025 winner, what does this recognition mean to you, and how does it reflect your journey and impact in tech?
Being recognized makes me feel very happy, but the fact that it has been done by the Global Women in Tech Network, gives it a whole different dimension. There are thousands of women in the organization who are really talented, and being highlighted as one of them makes me very proud and very humble at the same time.
Tech Industry's Most Rewarding Aspects
In your experience, what is the most rewarding aspect of working in the tech industry, and how has it influenced your career path?
The fact that can be applied to any industry or part of society. I started my career realizing that there were not too many women in the Tech World and I wanted to be one of them. As my career developed, I was very interested in technology and learning. Now I am using all the knowledge I gathered to see how I can use it in social projects and pay back. It has been a central point of my life.
My Tech Career Milestone
Could you share a defining moment or a key achievement in your tech career that has been particularly impactful or meaningful to you?
The moment I took a decision to step out of a successful career position in a big corporation to become an entrepreneur, creating a startup in a remote area of Senegal, Casamance. Working in languages I did not speak and in a society with rules very different to the ones I am used to in Europe or America. But it is the best thing I have ever done, because I am working for a purpose, fighting for the digital literacy in Africa, hoping our products help people that don´t know how to read or write in the languages used in the mobiles (or at all), to learn the potential of the technology to access to a new economy and knowledge opportunities.
Empowering Women in Tech: Real Stories, Career Advice, and Tips
From your experience, what essential advice and practical tips would you offer to women aspiring to establish a successful career in tech?
Focus on what your instinct tells you and don't let other people's comments influence you. I have heard several times that technology is not for women, that we are not prepared for this, etc... things are way better now, but ignoring these external comments and focusing on what you really want is very important. Imagine when I said I wanted to leave my position in Oracle as a VP managing a team in 34 countries to move to Africa to start a business with AI with African students! Everyone thought I was crazy and I am sure many still think, but hey, here I am!
