    Reflecting on My Journey

As a Women in Tech Global Awards 2025 winner, what does this recognition mean to you, and how does it reflect your journey and impact in tech?

Being recognized with the Women in Tech Global Awards 2025 is a deeply meaningful milestone that bridges my academic journey in Health Information Management and Health Information Technology with my global work in digital health and patient‑centered innovation. It reflects years of translating research into practice through digital health solutions, telehealth, remote monitoring, and virtual care, while serving as an expert and advisor within international organizations committed to transforming healthcare through technology, including my work with the Technical and Strategic Advisory Group at the World Health Organization (WHO).

    Tech Industry's Most Rewarding Aspects

In your experience, what is the most rewarding aspect of working in the tech industry, and how has it influenced your career path?

The most rewarding aspect of working in tech is seeing how data‑driven and digital solutions can truly improve the lives of patients, families, and health professionals by making care more accessible, continuous, and personalized. This belief has guided my career toward designing and evaluating tools such as mobile applications, electronic patient‑reported outcome systems, and telehealth models. It has also inspired me to amplify impact through teaching, authorship, keynote speaking, and expert advisory work.

    My Tech Career Milestone

Could you share a defining moment or a key achievement in your tech career that has been particularly impactful or meaningful to you?

A defining achievement was leading the development and usability evaluation of a digital health solution that empowered patients to manage their health and treatment journey. Equally meaningful has been the international recognition of my broader digital health portfolio through awards such as the YTH Live Global Scholarship, Exponential Health Tech rankings, Women Changing the World MENA Awards, and the Special Recognition Award for Women in ICT. These honors confirm that combining rigorous science, practical implementation, and global collaboration can create lasting impact.

Empowering Women in Tech: Real Stories, Career Advice, and Tips

From your experience, what essential advice and practical tips would you offer to women aspiring to establish a successful career in tech?

First, invest in a strong and interdisciplinary foundation: deepen your technical skills while truly understanding the domain you aim to transform, whether that is health, education, finance, or another sector. Second, be visible and intentional, publish your work, speak at events, review for journals and conferences, and pursue international opportunities, even if they seem ambitious. Third, build and nurture authentic networks and mentorships; communities and collaborations, such as those with World Health Organization (WHO), Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), International Federation of Health Information Management Associations (IFHIMA), and global conferences, have been pivotal in my journey. Finally, treat every challenge, resource constraint, bias, or setback as an opportunity to innovate, strengthen your resilience, and design solutions that reflect your unique perspective.

Who would you recommend to join the WomenTech Network, and why?

I highly recommend the WomenTech Network to students, early‑career professionals, established leaders, and allies across academia, healthcare, industry, startups, and policy who are committed to using technology for positive social and global impact. It is particularly valuable for women seeking to expand their international networks, gain mentorship, access speaking and award opportunities, and be part of a community that celebrates and amplifies their contributions in fields such as health information technology and digital health solutions.
