    Reflecting on My Journey

As a Women in Tech Global Awards 2025 winner, what does this recognition mean to you, and how does it reflect your journey and impact in tech?

Winning the Global Gold Award of the Women in Tech Global Awards 2025 is deeply meaningful to me because it highlights a journey shaped by resilience, curiosity, and a commitment to building technology that genuinely improves people’s lives. I began in empirical sociology, studying youth behavior and early-intervention models before I touched large-scale engineering. Today, I apply that same research mindset to AI systems that serve real communities: from school-family communication tools used by over 20 million U.S. families to open-source libraries adopted by developers across the world.

I’ve always focused on building systems that not only scale technically, but also set new standards for reliability and impact in the organizations that adopt them.

This recognition reflects not only my work, but the values behind it: responsible AI, long-term impact, and the belief that engineering can be both technically excellent and deeply human-centered. It’s a reminder that when you build with purpose, the world notices.

    Tech Industry's Most Rewarding Aspects

In your experience, what is the most rewarding aspect of working in the tech industry, and how has it influenced your career path?

The most rewarding part of working in tech is seeing how a well-designed system can remove barriers, create opportunities, and make someone’s day easier without them ever knowing the complexity behind it.

A school administrator solving a problem in seconds instead of hours.

A family understanding a child’s progress because a system finally makes their world transparent.

A developer saving time because your open-source library quietly does its job.

That impact has shaped every step of my career. Some of my most meaningful work has become mission-critical for the teams and communities it serves, and that responsibility defines the way I build. I’m driven by the idea that technology should empower people.

    My Tech Career Milestone

Could you share a defining moment or a key achievement in your tech career that has been particularly impactful or meaningful to you?

A defining milestone for me was launching my open-source “Hati” Ruby toolkit. What started as a small prototype, grew into a suite of libraries adopted globally, trending on Ruby Toolbox, and helping engineers ship features faster and more reliably.

Seeing something you built become useful to people you’ve never met is a powerful reminder of what open source can do: one person’s idea can become everyone’s tool.

Empowering Women in Tech: Real Stories, Career Advice, and Tips

From your experience, what essential advice and practical tips would you offer to women aspiring to establish a successful career in tech?

    ● Build curiosity, not perfectionism. Curiosity will take you further than flawless execution.

    ● Document your wins. Women often underestimate how much they’ve done - write it down.

    ● Pick environments that value you. Growth accelerates where your ideas are heard.

    ● Create your own opportunities. Your career is not only about roles you receive, but also the ones you build - projects, tools, research, open-source.

    ● Stay close to your values. Technology changes fast, but your principles are what give your work meaning.

    ● Remember why you started. Meaning keeps you moving when motivation fades.

To sum up, my essential advice would be: build with intention, speak with confidence, and step into rooms as if you belong - because you do.

Who would you recommend to join the WomenTech Network, and why?

I would recommend it to women who want not only to grow technically, but also to belong to a global support system that opens doors, amplifies voices, and celebrates impact. Whether you’re early in your career, transitioning fields, or already leading teams, Women inTech offers visibility, mentorship, and a sense of community that is hard to find elsewhere. It’s for those who are ready to grow, to be seen, and to stand alongside others who are also changing the world in their own quiet, determined ways.
