As a Women in Tech Global Awards 2025 winner, what does this recognition mean to you, and how does it reflect your journey and impact in tech?
Being recognized as 'Cybersecurity Leader of the Year' is deeply meaningful because it affirms not just individual achievement, but sustained impact. My journey in technology has been shaped by navigating complexity—across industries, geographies, and cultures—while consistently focusing on outcomes that matter: trust, resilience, and business enablement.
The award reflects years of advocating for cybersecurity as a strategic leadership discipline, not a technical afterthought, and of building teams and cultures where diverse perspectives are valued as a source of strength. I see it as recognition of the collective work done with exceptional teams, Boards, and leaders who believe that inclusive leadership drives better decisions and stronger organizations.
Tech Industry's Most Rewarding Aspects
In your experience, what is the most rewarding aspect of working in the tech industry, and how has it influenced your career path?
The most rewarding aspect of working in technology is its ability to shape outcomes at scale. Decisions made in technology—particularly in cybersecurity—directly influence organizational trust, customer confidence, and societal resilience.
This realization influenced my career path significantly. I moved deliberately toward roles where I could operate at the intersection of technology, risk, and executive decision-making. Being able to translate technical risk into strategic insight for Boards and senior leadership has been both professionally fulfilling and impactful.
My Tech Career Milestone
Could you share a defining moment or a key achievement in your tech career that has been particularly impactful or meaningful to you?
One defining moment in my career was transitioning cybersecurity conversations from operational reporting to Board-level strategic dialogue. When leaders begin to ask not “Are we secure?” but “Are we resilient, prepared, and aligned with our risk appetite?”, meaningful change occurs.
Building programs that embed cybersecurity into enterprise strategy—while developing and mentoring high-performing, diverse teams—has been among my most meaningful achievements. Those moments signal maturity, trust, and long-term value creation.
Empowering Women in Tech: Real Stories, Career Advice, and Tips
From your experience, what essential advice and practical tips would you offer to women aspiring to establish a successful career in tech?
First, develop depth in your craft—but move beyond and also invest in communication, business acumen, and executive presence, to help you progress faster.
Second, seek sponsors, not just mentors. Sponsors advocate for you when decisions are made behind closed doors.
Third, do not wait for perfection before stepping forward. Take failures as stepping stones to success - don't dwell on them, but reflect on them, learn from them and pivot your approach to help you move forward.
Finally, build a network that spans functions, industries, and geographies. Your perspective becomes more powerful when informed by diverse experiences.
