The AWS Code Services team is seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Product Manager to set the vision and direction for our Source Code Management tools. This is a unique opportunity for someone who is passionate about software development to shape the future of Developer tools. In this role you will be part of the extended Code Services leadership helping to not only set the vision for a crucial segment of developer tools but also org-wide standards and processes.

Your mission is to create services that make it easier for developers to manage their source code and collaborate with others. You will work backward from the customer to create a compelling vision and strategy that enables AWS to solve the critical needs of developers across all segments. You will turn that vision into actionable plans that are written as clear , compelling narratives that leaders at all levels can understand. You will break that plan into easy to understand requirements and work with UX and engineering to design prototypes and wireframes that help get everyone aligned. Finally you will work with your engineering counterparts to schedule and track the delivery of features and services through the Amazon development process and into the hands of our customers. Throughout the process you will ensure that the team is focused on the top customer needs and you are partnering effectively with engineering counterparts to deliver features, improvements and services predictably and reliably.

This role is a hands-on, with a mix of individual delivery and scaling through others. To be successful in this role you must be customer obsessed and deeply understand the needs of developers and the source code management market. You will be expected to invent on behalf of the customer and develop new and innovative ideas. You must care deeply about the developer experience and should be comfortable working with designers to prototype ideas and concepts. In addition you will work with engineering leaders to maintain a consistent rhythm of planning, execution and review and ensure that PM and engineering work as one team.

You will also be the “face” of Source Code Management tools inside Amazon and with our customers. You will meet with customers to learn about their challenges and present the product roadmap. You’ll have the opportunity to become PR and speaker certified and represent AWS at industry events. Inside Amazon you will be a recognized expert in your field and will be responsible for effectively and reliably communicating project status and customer sentiment to senior leaders and stakeholders. In this role, you will also write and present the teams monthly and weekly business reviews and strategic planning documents such as 3 Year plans, OP1 and Yearly Goals to senior leaders across Amazon.

The right candidate will possess a strong product and program management background and have extensive experience working as an individual contributor on large projects. You must excel at written and verbal communications. You will have experience with developer tools and software development processes. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.
