Calix is seeking a highly motivated, talented and technically strong Sr. DevOps Cloud Engineer to add to our growing Cloud Team. The Sr. DevOps Cloud Engineer is a non-people manager role, but rather a functional-manager in our Cloud Team, performing troubleshooting and root cause analysis. This individual contributor will monitor applications and services within the environments, take actions to resolve issues and implement strategies to prevent future occurrences. The Sr. DevOps Cloud Engineer will also monitor AWS maintenance and outages, assess impact, and develop strategies to minimize impact. You must have both strong technical abilities, and proven problem-solving skills to solve tough technical challenges in a team of talented and motivated engineers.

Qualifications:

  • This role may be required to travel and attend face-to-face meetings and Calix sponsored events. ​
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5 or more years’ overall development/technical support experience.
  • 4 or more years’ experience with UNIX/Linux operating system.
  • Hands-on AWS experience (EC2, ELB,  S3, lambda, etc…) or Azure or Google Cloud.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Rancher, Kubernates, Helm.
  • Experience with at least 1 programming language (compiled or scripting languages, such as java, C++, javascript, nodeJS).
  • Strong networking and systems security background.
  • AWS Cost Management and Optimization.
  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • Strong background in Devops related practices such as CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and infrastructure as code with Nexus, GIT, Terraform, Saltstack, Jenkins, Bamboo.
  • Experience with Redis, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, MySQL,  ElasticSearch, Kafka, Spark, Storm.
  • Experience with Nginx, Apache, HAproxy.

  • This is a remote-based position in the United States or Canada.
