Summary of Role:    
    
GLOBALFOUNDRIES is looking for a software engineer in development and support of software that manages the Post Fab factory - and data processing systems.  GLOBALFOUNDRIES manufactures a wide variety of Foundry semiconductor products for customers around the Globe.  Post Fab is the organization responsible for inspection, testing, and disposition of end products.  The software engineer designs, develops, tests, and supports software systems that interfere with manufacturing tools as a near real-time service to control production and shipment of these semiconductor products and processing of measurement data. 
 
Candidates will have a BS/MS in software engineering or computer science with programming skills in Java, JavaScript, JMS, Spring MVC as well as a variety of scripting languages. Skills with relational DB technologies is required along with advanced knowledge in markup and style sheet languages, specifically HTML and CSS.  Experience with the Linux operating system, Web Server software such as JBoss, and DB Server systems is also desirable.  
 
A successful candidate will be comfortable working through all stages of the software development life cycle from requirements, development, test and deployment using Agile disciplines. The candidate will work in a dynamic collaborative environment requiring strong teaming skills with programmers, engineers, managers, and production employees. 
  
Essential Responsibilities:      
 
 

  • New development of software components as well as their integration into the existing product architecture
  • Support existing solutions for data conversion and data transfer for internal and external customers
  • Perform deep root-cause analysis (level 3+) for any issue arising from systems deployed
  • Maintain detailed application documentation and revision control

 

Required Qualifications:  
 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Strong analytical skills, self-motivated, and able to work independently
  • Solid Java programming and relational DB skills
  • Perform activities in a safe and responsible manner in support of Environmental, Health, Safety & Security
  • Fluency in English – (Written & Spoken)

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with cloud services such as AWS, OpenStack
  • Experience in Semiconductor-Manufacturing or Test
  • Experience in dealing with development environments (Eclipse and NetBeans)
  • Familiar with the use of GIT/SVN, Maven, Nexus, Jenkins, as well as use of UNIX
  • Knowledge of Java Frontend development (Vaadin), web services, REST, XML and JSON
  • Experience with relational databases and their development tools (Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Server/client-side script programming skills (JavaScript, Angular JS)
  • Experience of working on more complex software projects with agile methods
  • Willingness to work independently and as part of a team
