Job Description

The HP Credit and Collections organization has an exciting opportunity for a Federal Collections Specialist to join our outstanding organization.  The ideal candidate will bring a lot of passion and energy into the role and will be skilled in communicating with internal and external customers to drive productive conversations, be methodical in discovering and resolving disputes and working across multiple teams and within a team to achieve desired outcomes.  The ideal candidate is also capable of exercising independent judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate actions and follows established guidelines and policies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring billed accounts receivables are collected in a timely manner
  • Ability to understand customer disputes and how to best research and resolve with key stakeholders
  • Establishing strong relationships with teammates, internal partners and external customers to drive optimal performance
  • Effectively communicate in all approved communication mediums to ensure visibility to key stakeholders
  • Work proactively with internal and external customers to mitigate potential problems
  • Confidence to escalate situations that are problematic or not being resolved within an appropriate period of time
  • Maintains compliance by understanding and adhering to the established policies and procedures of the department and corporation
  • Participates in projects to drive improvements, increase knowledge base and expand network
  • Crafts presentations on an ad hoc basis

 

Education and Experience Required:

  • First level university degree with a focus in business or economics recommended or the equivalent experience
  • Typically 2-4 years of experience in a credit and collections environment with Federal collections experience a strong plus

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Intermediate written and verbal communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Intermediate accounting knowledge
  • Basic understanding of risk mitigation tools
  • Intermediate understanding of collection processes and financial concepts
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Solid computer skills with a functional understanding of Excel
  • Understanding of HighRadius and SAP a plus
  • Automation and robotics skills a plus
