About the team

The Canvas Performance team will be responsible for building the render core of the Miro Whiteboard. We care a lot about the performance of our product. The team goal is to provide a render engine that will be able to render thousands of widgets in a collaboration scenario.

Collaboration inside the team is as important as in product, that’s why we pay attention to a friendly atmosphere, microclimate, and self-development.

Each role at Miro is based at one of our physical hubs and we look for talent that want to be part of these local, collaborative communities. Mironeers work in a hybrid model, with 3 days a week in office culture as our baseline.

About the role

We’re looking for a Frontend Developer who will help us to achieve ambitious goals via taking challenges related to canvas performance. We expect you to have a strong software engineering experience, readiness to drive change, and experiment in search of the best solution to craft to protect canvas performance from the client side. Be responsible for the internal tool/framework that will help teams iterate faster without degradation in performance and be willing to take difficult challenges.

What you’ll do

The main teamwork tasks are:

  • Design and implement framework/tool for canvas performance (research the tools for performance testing, implement framework, create pipeline for that, teach developers to use it, support framework and monitor it)
  • Create Canvas performance protection strategy to cover it on different levels by tests and implement it (dive into how different levels and abstraction of Miro work and how it influences on performance)
  • Work on performance and optimizations in collaboration with the team

What you’ll need

  • Master knowledge of TS/JS, nice to have Java background
  • Understanding of frontend technologies such as React/Angular, and the way SPA works
  • Ability and openness to learn, fail, reflect and apply learnings moving forward
  • An interest in complex problems

Nice to have

Specifics for team:

  • Experience in the maps/game industry
  • Experience in UI performance testing
  • Working with Jest
  • Better to have experience with Ansible, Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes
  • Understanding the difference between html-based rendering and canvas-based rendering
