About the Role
We are seeking a Publishing Program Manager to join Springer Nature. In this pivotal position, you’ll be working on various migration projects in an ever evolving journal portfolio. The portfolio you will be working on entails over 2000 journals (both Hybrid as well as Open Access) with projects including migrations to new peer review systems or other supporting tools and systems, as well as to new business models. You will be reporting into the Director of Business Performance and Operational Excellence.
The position is offered on a full-time permanent basis. It can be based in our Dordrecht or London offices on a hybrid working model.
Role responsibilities:
- Project management: run various (transition) projects within the Springer Journal portfolio.
- Communication and stakeholder management: serve as a central point of contact and ensuring clear communication between various (mainly internal) stakeholders (Publishing, Production, GPO, Marketing, Publishing Performance and Intelligence, Peer-review, Strategy).
- Documentation and knowledge transfer: ensure that processes, guidelines, and relevant information are well-documented. Pull together FAQs and narratives on the transition process best practices.
- Risk management: identify potential challenges, develop mitigation strategies, and adapt to unforeseen circumstances during transitions.
- Continuous improvement: look for opportunities to streamline processes and improve procedures relating to the journal portfolio.
- Reporting: provide full and effective reporting on project progress.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Essential
- Previous demonstrable project management experience
- Change management experience
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, build relationships, and manage expectations.
- Publishing Industry Knowledge: understanding the specific landscape of scholarly publishing, editorial processes, and Open Access initiatives.
- Problem-solving and adaptability: capacity to identify issues, develop solutions, and adjust strategies as needed during transitions.
Desirable
- Formal project management training or certification (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, PMP) would be desirable but is not required
