In this role you will execute on established procedures for a specific technology that applies the delivery of customer-focused product solutions throughout the product life cycle. The incumbent should have a higher degree of experience across several key disciplines, platforms/operating systems, telecommunications and the cellular industry in order to address application and systems issues, problems and concerns that are of a more detailed and technical nature requiring in-depth analysis and research. This position works closely with the Manager on critical issues and oversees special projects

  • Serve as a technical consultant in recommending and implementing new technologies to meet the business needs as well as meet with vendors.
  • Assist in evaluating Data Processing processes and cost estimates for implementation of approved approaches to requested system enhancements of new development.
  • Provide instruction and training to technical resources to ensure work activities are on track and meets business needs.
  • Seek and access innovative solutions to select products related to the current technology to be used as new standards in the product life cycle.
  • Analyze the potential impact of enhancements to the existing systems based on written user requirements.
  • Provide technical advice during product development and life cycle. Identify and recommend effective techniques to utilize during design, programming implementation and installation cycles.
  • Assist in reviewing and refining user requirements for systems development and maintenance projects.
  • Provide expertise across multiple platforms/operating systems, production support utilities, client/server application systems, telecommunications, and cellular industry.
  • Control production by monitoring system processes, working to resolve system issues and following established escalation procedures as required. 
  • Monitor, execute and support the operations installation of new software releases/updates into production by providing high-level technical guidance to operations personnel and monitor/support production performance by performing benchmarking and research while initiating actions to improve results and/or problem correction.
  • Provide the technical expertise and system knowledge to support operations efforts as it relates to customers, problems, issues and concerns. 
  • Perform Oracle Database/SQL Server Administration during all phases of development, system test and production cycles. 
  • Design logical and physical databases or reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical database
  • Create and manage DTS packages, SSIS packages, triggers, and stored procedures, views and SQL transactions.
  • Plan and assist with SQL server builds and configuration.
  • Install and use Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Net Manager and the Oracle Net Configuration assistant to configure networking
  • Organize, install, and assess enterprise relational database management system (RDBMS) software across multiple database environments. 
  • Troubleshoot Oracle RDBMS running on Unix platforms/ RAC cluster platforms while complying with ISO9000 guidelines and specific DBA Homeroom best practices.
  • Routine tasks include database design, creation, maintenance, backup/recover, and performance tuning in independent clusters and Oracle RAC cluster environments
  • Ensure availability and performance of the databases with support systems.
  • Proactively monitor database systems to ensure security with minimum downtime of the database.
  • Change Management: Plan, deploy and validate software releases and modifications to the SQL environments
  • Manage the distribution and retention of data on various storage devices.
  • Analyze requirements and prioritize requests. Communicate with users and requestors to clarify requirements. Create programs and/or processes to satisfy requests
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in technology; specifically in the Oracle / SQL Server tool kit. 
    Reports
  • Generate external and internal reports, files, and documentation
  • Identify, analyze and resolve tickets received from first level support.
  • Provide input and feedback to Product Development in the form of TSG tickets to resolve customer problems, issues, and concerns that require production program changes.
  • Control production by monitoring system processes, working to resolve system issues and following established escalation procedures as required.
  • Provide the technical expertise and system knowledge to support operations efforts as it relates to customers, problems, issues and concerns
  • Develop and implement software tools, documentation and procedures to accurately monitor production applications on a daily basis with early warning indicators
  • React on system related alarms, determine the causes and take actions to fix them. 
  • BS in Computer Science preferred or related field, equivalent work experience will be considered
  • 14+ years of relevant professional experience in the areas of application support, technical customer support, problem management, relational databases, programming languages, software development.
  • Strong experience working with Unix or Linux.
  • Demonstrated experience working with public cloud technology (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Experience working with containers, Kubernetes or Dockers. 
  • Demonstrated experience working with relational data bases (RMDB) such as Oracle, MySQL, PostreSQL, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience on Monitoring, Instrumentation & Orchestration tools - Prometheus, Grafana, APM, MuleSoft, Graylog, log aggregation services. 
  • Strong experience as a Database Administrator and in areas of database architecture design, technical support, problem management, relational databases, programming languages, software development.
  • Experience in the design, development and implementing of major Database structures
  •  Significant experience in developing Oracle applications and a strong understanding of Oracle/SQL Server tools 
  • Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting Unix servers and storage servers and management software
  • The ability to build strategic relationships within the organization and with all levels.
  • Knowledge of ITIL V3 specifically event, incident, problem and change management.
  • Knowledge on ticketing tools i.e., Remedy etc.
  • Sound knowledge on network infrastructure (LAN & WAN)
  • Background and experience in messaging technology (SMS, SMTP, MMS)
