Session: Girl, Get Promoted! Demystifying Promotions

It’s no surprise that the higher up the ladder you look, the percentage of women and people of color in leadership roles dwindles. So, what can you do about it? Get yourself promoted and be a part of the next generation of leaders.
Promotions don’t happen magically, especially not for women. While there are many things we can’t control, from glass ceilings to unconscious biases, we will focus on what you can do to best position yourself for the next step in your career. You go, girl!

Bio

Jenny Zhao (she/her) is a Sr. Director and the Head of Product of Digital Services at Asurion, the global leader of tech care services. She leads the teams responsible for helping customers enjoy, protect, and secure their digital content and digital lives through Asurion’s cloud storage and digital security products.

Prior to leading the Digital Services team, Jenny led products ranging from an enterprise sales platform to a bespoke digital recruiting experience for hiring 1099 workers remotely across the US.

Prior to product management, she worked in operations and sales leadership, building high performing teams in high growth US markets. She was also once pre-med and holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of California, Los Angeles. How’s that for a non-traditional path into tech?

As someone who worked in male-dominated industries such as construction and tech her whole career, she’s fiercely passionate about building diverse, empowered teams and improving diverse representation in leaders, especially women in tech.

When she’s not mentoring others or dreaming about product frameworks, Jenny likes to travel, eat all of the foods, and spend time with her husband and adorable rescue pup in Nashville.
