Session: The Product Pivot: Fearlessly Navigating Your Way into Product Management

The Product Pivot is a conversation about how to fearlessly embrace your own pivot and successfully navigate the process. Product remains one of the most interdisciplinary fields in the tech industry. What one does as a product manager changes from day-to-day and from company-to-company. Seemingly then, individuals of a variety of backgrounds would make good product managers. Nonetheless, for those without a traditional computer science background, it remains a role that’s extremely difficult to break into. In this presentation, I will share how I pivoted from my career in finance to one in product – and how you can do it to. I will discuss how to identify the relevant components of your experience, how to amplify those throughout the interview process, and how to gain insight from every rejection along the way.
