Session: Innovation alongside running legacy business
How do you ensure there is technical innovation alongside business execution (aka KTLO)? Some common answers are to factor innovation into your regular development process, conduct hackathons, set aside 20% time etc. At Bloomberg Media, we do these, and in addition have a dedicated team to focus on data-driven user-centric innovation for accelerated experimentation and exploration. In this talk, I’ll talk about “BHIVE” - Bloomberg's innovation lab, some of the user-facing features/products that were shipped as a result of their work, and some of the challenges that come with this.
