Session: Why too many women leave Tech?
Gender Equality in the US is said to be reached only in 208 years (https://hbr.org/video/6089754490001/when-will-we-reach-gender-equality). A big part of it is the under-representation of women in STEM field. It is sad to read about the fact that 50% of women in Tech leave the domain mid-career and that there is a leaky pipeline.
In my talk I will present my findings on the topic of why this phenomenon happens. Raising awareness of what the problems are is a powerful start towards positive change.
- Women leave the Tech industry at a rate twice as high as men.
- The main reason people leave their jobs is because a high dissatisfaction with leadership.
- The most importnat job factor for women is the office environment while for men it is the technology stack.
- Raising awareness and making all these information know is what can help your best friend avoid toxic environments.
