Honoring the Vision of
Ada Lovelace
Every year on the second Tuesday of October, we celebrate Ada Lovelace Day — a global occasion that highlights the achievements of women in STEM and honors the pioneering spirit of the world’s first computer programmer.
Her story proves that ideas can change the future — and so can you.

What is Ada Lovelace Day?
Ada Lovelace Day is an international celebration of the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM). It is held every year on the second Tuesday of October to honor Ada Lovelace (1815–1852), the visionary mathematician and writer who is often regarded as the world’s first computer programmer.
Working with Charles Babbage on his design for the Analytical Engine, Ada Lovelace recognized that machines had the potential to go far beyond number-crunching. In her detailed notes, she described an algorithm intended to be executed by the Engine — a groundbreaking insight that laid the foundation for modern computing.
First established in 2009, Ada Lovelace Day has since grown into a global movement, marked by events, talks, and initiatives across schools, universities, companies, and communities. It not only celebrates Ada’s pioneering genius but also highlights the ongoing contributions of women in STEM who are shaping our world today.
Words of Inspiration
“That brain of mine is something more than merely mortal, as time will show.”
“The more I study, the more insatiable do I feel my
genius for it to be.”
“Your best and wisest refuge from all troubles is in your science”
“If you can't give me poetry, can't you give me poetical science?”
Why Ada Lovelace Matters Today?
Ada’s groundbreaking vision reminds us that the future of science and technology depends on imagination, courage, and diversity. She saw possibilities far beyond her time, and today her story continues to inspire innovators around the globe.
But progress remains unfinished. Women represent only 28% of the STEM workforce worldwide, a reminder that there are still barriers to break and opportunities to open. By honoring Ada, we not only celebrate the first computer programmer, but we also reaffirm our commitment to empowering women, amplifying diverse voices, and building a future where everyone can shape technology.
When we celebrate Ada Lovelace, we celebrate every girl who's ever felt out of place in a tech class, every woman who’s been the only one in the room, and every future leader who’s building what’s next. We’re not just honoring a pioneer — we’re reminding the world that innovation has no gender, and brilliance knows no bounds.
