Inclusive leadership brings together a wide range of viewpoints, experiences, and expertise, which enriches the decision-making process. This diversity in thought and approach can lead to more innovative solutions, as it enables teams to examine challenges from various angles and come up with more comprehensive and effective solutions.

I think about this often. Inclusive leadership is not just about having more ideas in the room. It is about seeing the problem differently, sometimes in ways you never imagined. I remember reading about what happened at Airbnb when users of color reported facing discrimination on the platform. At first, the leadership team treated it as a PR issue or blamed a few bad hosts. Then they brought in a more diverse group of people. Some had experienced discrimination firsthand, others had worked in civil rights. And that changed everything. I was honestly shocked when I learned that something as simple as showing profile photos early in the booking process was helping discrimination happen quietly in the background. It was a part of the system that many people had never questioned. But the new voices in the room saw it instantly. Because of them, Airbnb redesigned key parts of its platform. They delayed showing profile photos, improved policies, and made the platform more fair for everyone. That story has stayed with me. It reminded me that inclusive leadership is not just about solving problems better. Sometimes it is about finding the real problem in the first place. Without those perspectives, the team would have kept looking in the wrong direction. When I think about how we make better decisions in tech, this is what I hope for. Teams where people feel safe to speak, where lived experiences are valued, and where everyone is willing to ask the hard questions. That is how we build better systems. That is how we move forward.
