Transparency should do more than make AI feel trustworthy. Its real value is giving people enough information to decide when an AI-supported recommendation should be trusted, questioned or escalated.

In human-agent collaboration, explanations should help users understand what informed an outcome, what assumptions may have influenced it, and where uncertainty remains. This becomes especially important when AI contributes to decisions that affect people, resources or opportunities.

Trust should be earned through visibility and accountability rather than assumed because a system appears intelligent. The goal is not for humans to understand every technical detail, but to have enough clarity to exercise meaningful judgment and challenge an outcome when necessary.

Explainable AI does more than build confidence; it helps preserve human agency.
