Unlocking the Future of Work with Atlas Office

Welcome to a new world of work, as reimagined by me, Puna Ge from Atlas Office. We are changing the face of work through the development of a radical platform that is setting us on a fast trajectory towards a future of work that is not confined by physical limitations.

Pandemic and the Rise of Remote Work

The COVID-19 pandemic swiftly and unexpectedly shifted us into a mode of remote work. In a blink of an eye, we found ourselves setting up home offices and grappling with the unique challenges and benefits of remote work. This rapid transformation led many to believe that this was a temporary solution to an unprecedented crisis.

However, as time progressed, the business world began to recognize the inherent value and convenience of remote work. Tech giants like Facebook, Twitter and Shopify, amongst others, have opted to continue with remote or hybrid work models.

The Pros and Cons of Remote Work

On the upside, remote work offers extraordinary flexibility. We are no longer bound to a specific geographic location - we can work from the beach, from home or even from space. Remote work offers significant advantages to tech companies in particular, as it allows them to tap into a global pool of talent. Moreover, it curtails the costs associated with maintaining a physical office space.

However, remote work is not without its drawbacks. Our interviews with remote workers revealed that the loneliness and isolation of remote work can lead to reduced motivation and job dissatisfaction, regardless of the generation. The lack of social interaction is a significant downside.

The Concept of a Digital Workspace

The idea of a digital workspace is a promising solution to these challenges. We have essentially moved from a 2D working environment filled with various applications for video calls and project management, to a 3D working environment with the use of virtual reality (VR) tools or 3D applications like Virbela.

Virtual Reality (VR) takes it a step further, providing an immersive experience where you actually feel as if you are inside a space. Applications like Glue VR or SPATIAL VR are making inroads in this area.

Moving towards 3D Communication and Collaboration

As we transition towards a digital future, the trend is to move towards 3D communication methods. This shift to immersive holography is significantly enhancing collaboration and interaction amongst teams.

Welcome everybody. Uh I am Puna. Puna Ge uh from Atlas office. Uh We are developing a platform for future of work.So today, we'll be discussing about future of work, how it transforms uh what's going on currently and what are the pros and cons of the technological effect of working? So, uh I will start the uh speech with a presentation. So I hope you're seeing it well. And yes. Uh OK, we have just with, with the pandemic, we have started working remotely. Many of us, we thought it would be really hard uh to work remotely back then. We had, most of us had no idea about it. Uh But after some time when the pandemic hit, then suddenly it just jumped into our lives and we just found ourselves at home trying to work, trying to set up a workspace and get together with our friends and collaborate at this point. Uh We had some uh yes benefits and uh cons this situation working remotely, actually started for like uh in the beginning only for pandemic, we thought we would go back to our offices. Uh But many of the companies realized that some of the values of working remote remotely. So uh some giants of the business environment just announced they are going to work remotely from now on. They will. Some of them said we will never ever go back to our offices. You're free to work wherever you are.

And some of them said we're going to keep on working hybrid. And there are many other companies which you don't see on the screen. Uh These are just some of the majors that we are all familiar with. Well, working remotely, had some pros and cons. So uh while working remotely, many of us actually are free to work wherever we are, we can be at the beach, we can be home, we can be next to our child. If she needs a care, we can be in the space no matter and this helps companies have no cost at all for the office space. Uh They support their employees working from home, but eventually it's to it, it's uh comparing to office space cost is pretty small and expanding the limits of the company is a huge advantage, especially in the technology and related companies, related industry companies because there are many talents all around the world, but you are bounded with only the people in your own city in your own place.

Uh But when, when you're working remotely, you, you can employ anyone in the world but working remotely sounds good. Ok, I'll grab my laptop and work wherever I am. It's fine. But what are the cons? Uh We've been interviewing many people so far who are working remotely. They all have got different struggles while working remotely. But major uh difficulty of them is feeling in a jail after some time, remote working is not just grabbing your laptop and working somewhere, somewhere away from your office space. It's more a lonely place. It's a synchronous.

You're on your own trying to do something. There's no one else probably in the room. Uh And you don't see your work mates except for the video calls. Uh Well, so after some time what everybody says they need is just interacting with uh their teammates, everybody, no matter if they're extrovert or introvert, no matter what gender location industry they are. Once they start working all alone in some place, they start feeling lonely and this costs a huge loss to the companies uh in terms of loss of motivation and employee turnover. Uh Before the pandemic, the company started talking about the employee turnover for the generations.

That was very high because they were not really, you know, uh getting excited enough for any job or they like switching jobs and try new experiences. But after the pandemic and after switching many companies to remote work, it's been the problem of any generations. It doesn't matter if you're from Zy or X generation. Uh So because uh uh we are just social beings after all, we're not only uh you know, robots, we need certain cases in our lives. So here comes a digital workspace definition. So what is a digital workspace? How do we define it? Uh Where do we work while on digital? We are digitizing all of our natures. The future of work depends highly on the technological improvements and technological tools. At this point, we have got three major differences in the workspace options. So many of us currently work in two D environments, getting together with video calls, managing our projects in certain websites, messaging with another application, uh texting with another emailing with another, another, another, we have got a set of applications which are all two D.

And when we want to work together, we just message someone then receive an answer, send them some zoom link or teams link whatever platform you're using and then trying to get that person near us. When we work, we are only seeing the people that we collected at that moment. We have no idea about who else in the company right now. Uh who are working where they are, what do they do? Uh We don't, none of the employees get together just to have a chit chat. Uh While we interview with them, they say they only get together for collaboration and collaboration is never as easy as previously. Uh because well imagine your office space when you want to work with a friend, uh You just find him in the space and say, hey, I need your help or hey, I will I need to tell you something and then you just look at some screen together and then work. But in digital, it's not as easy. It takes like sometimes hours to grab people near you. So in 3D technologies which are getting more popular day by day, uh people are represented with their 3D locations and 3D uh presences. And there are certain applications currently getting uh more uh impact on working environment. Uh You see there are some 3D 3d tools like for example, Vir Bella uh supports PC A uh gatherings.

Uh people get together with events for events and education and stuff or there are some immersive tools immersive. What is the difference between immersive tools and 3D is basically being able to access the space with a virtual reality headset. So the virtual reality allows you to feel inside a space actually. So our brain doesn't only recognize uh the environment uh through the in between the frames. We always keep getting the information from outer space where we are not really focusing in. So uh in these immersive tools, your brain just feels like there. And there are certain business applications that started being developed in these environments too. Uh like for example, glue VR or uh spatial VR or right away, I will tell you about what we also develop in Atlas office. So why we are switching to 3D while we manage many stuff in two D. Currently, there are many uh studies over the communication methods that we are using as a default way. For example, we have started communicating with uh smoke and then letters, telegraphs, et cetera. But today our current main major communication method is video conferencing and started becoming virtual worlds.

The new generation gets together in virtual worlds. They were born into that while we were playing on the streets, they started gathering in computer games. So it's their part of the world. So in near future, it is estimated by Deloitte that uh immersive holography will also be a major part of our lives. This shows that the humanity is going 3d. The humanity feels wants to feel like they are at some other place or other people are at their space in the very near future. And how this will happen is uh much related to having um 3d presences. We have to represent ourselves in the space. Uh everything that we model in the environment is helping us uh perceive the concept of the space. So in 3d presences, uh we can have our own avatar bodies, we can customize them even we can make uh uh move our eyes, eyebrows and mouth while we speak just like you're watching me right now and see my hands and face. So we are replicating these day by day as technology goes by uh avatar presences are getting uh more and more developed day by day. Currently, some of them are very pretty uh low quality because of the capacities of the technology.

Not because uh the how to say not because cool super awesome avatar bodies doesn't exist. Uh We are bound to our computer performance after some point and we need to support every single computer to make everybody get together uh in a uh in a space that we define. So now I will tell you more about what we develop uh in for, for the future of work. So this is uh a snapshot from our application atlas office. Uh Imagine you're waking up, you're opening your computer and you're entering to your private office space where you see your friends actually. So they are all in 3d just like they are real human beings in the space no matter if you need to walk to them. No, no matter if you need to talk to them, no matter if you need to work with them or not, they are in the space just like in your real office space. So uh you can find anyone and get together in like 10 seconds and start collaborating. You can just go to a friend and just have chit chat like a social chat and make friends. Uh You can immediately teleport near your friend. You don't need to walk around all in the space and there are certain uh thematic uh spaces like meeting rooms, open amphitheater or cafeteria areas or uh conference halls, they all support the business needs of the people who wants to work in a futuristic way today and future is actually now happening.

So for example, here is the uh meeting room you need to, you may need to collaborate. You may have guests from out of your company. Uh just like in real meeting rooms, you can jump into an empty meeting room, a schedule a meeting room and jump into their get together, share your video, video cameras. Again, you don't need to send anyone links. You don't need to uh do anything extra for them. You just need to click on a button to open your camera. Uh And you can watch the presentations, you can share your screens with uh everybody. So imagine you are four software developers and you want to discuss about your script, your codes in on the screen. Uh But you don't currently you need to just uh share your screen in a row. So uh but in uh our application, everybody can open their screens at the same time and they all can be visible at the same time. So it would make things uh faster than ever. Not even uh working physically, even physical workspaces cannot, you know, support that. Uh So, well, not only working, you can also get together for your social time. Uh For example, some of our customers uh get together here for birthday parties. Uh Some of our customers get together here for challenging their teammates because we have got mini games in the space too.

Uh This is a space where you can meet new people too if you are in a crowded company and you have no idea about who, who else there is. Uh then you can just go and hear people and start talking because your voice activated and people will immediately hear you and you will hear their, hear them and you, you will know that they are actually there. Uh or you can just throw out giant uh events in the space for your company and invite guests the space although it belongs to you with a control, uh You can just invite other people from other companies uh and have your events here. So this is so far uh what I wanted to talk about and if you would like to access me, if you would like to contact me, please just email me, reach me out through our Twitter linkedin or email address. And uh we can talk about the future of work and I can help you how to switch your uh companies and teams uh for uh achieving this digital transformation for your company. Uh I would like to ask you if you have further questions before I stop talking. Uh And I would love to answer your questions.

So waiting some meanwhile, I'll uh also give some more information about uh our team and company uh Atlas office is located in Montreal Canada and we have got branches and partners all around the world uh from Seattle to Eastern Asia. Uh We have got eight partners uh like in UK, in Nigeria, in Denmark, in uh New York and in uh Singapore. So uh we have been developing extended realities for like the last five years. We've been developing digital spaces. Uh We currently are developing experiences for future of work, for employees, for teams to have more comfortable uh and more social and more motivated uh spaces while they work. So this is Puna. Uh I hope you enjoy it and please reach me out and I will help you about future of work. Have a nice day.
