What you can expect when joining the team

As a Business Development Director at Petal, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of our business within your assigned territory. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sales plans, building strong relationships with existing and prospective customers. Success in this role will be measured by your ability to meet revenue targets and contribute to the overall expansion of our market presence in British Columbia. 


Your daily life

During the day, you will be led to:

  • Develop efficient territory sales strategies aimed at meeting revenue targets and expanding market presence;
  • Leverage your existing database of contacts to prospect high-potential opportunities and build relationships with key players in BC's healthcare system;
  • Along with Account Executives, meet with prospective and existing customers to understand needs, concerns, and provide tailored solutions that meet their needs;
  • Help customers understand Petal’s value proposition by helping them achieve short term goals, along with position Petal as a trusted advisor for their longer term strategy.;
  • Utilize research to discover sales opportunities and develop targeted approaches to capitalize on them;
  • Build strategic partnerships within your territory to accelerate path to cash and/or accelerate technology roadmap;
  • Monitor competition within your assigned territory to stay informed about market trends and adjust sales strategies as necessary;
  • Travel within your assigned territory for face-to-face meetings, demos, and discovery sessions with potential customers;
  • Regularly communicate insights on sales activities, performance, and growth opportunities to internal stakeholders and Sales leadership;
  • Lead internal training sessions on offerings and sales techniques to enhance the proficiency and knowledge of internal sales team;
  • Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally with Sales Engineering, Account executives per Lines of Business, Customer Success and Marketing teams to develop strong customer relationships and uncover new opportunities;
  • Recommend improvements to sales processes and strategies;
  • Participate in industry events and tradeshows to foster relationships with prospects and strengthen Petal’s visibility.

Job requirements

Your profile

Are you a driven and results-oriented individual, known for your capacity to drive sales growth and foster strong customer relationships? Are you seeking a role where your sales strategies and leadership skills can directly contribute to the expansion of Petal? The sky is the limit! If you have:

  • 15+ years of experience, with a minimum of 8 years in B2B SaaS sales;
  • Experience building Territory business strategy;
  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry in British Columbia (a major asset);
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field preferred;
  • Strong understanding of B2B sales principles, techniques and methodologies;
  • Track record of increasing sales and revenue within an assigned territory;
  • The ability to develop and execute sales strategies and utilize KPIs to drive results;
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to assess market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs;
  • Excellent relationship building, interpersonal and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts persuasively;
  • Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset and a drive for continuous improvement;
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and to simplify key information;
  • Strong collaboration skills, and good at fostering productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Proficiency in CRM software and other sales tools for pipeline management and reporting;
  • Willingness to travel within your assigned territory as required;
  • Since you will be interacting with various colleagues and clients, some of whom speak only English, proficiency in English (spoken, written, and read) is required.
