We are looking for a person who's passion is to manage software projects. Somebody who likes to dive into technical details and to work with dedicated and gifted engineers on great products. A person who has already managed software projects and is now ready to go for the next level.

As a Project Manager at SUSE, your role is to interface between Product Management and Engineering. You will plan and evaluate requirements and schedule in close cooperation with engineering management and product managers.
Once a project is in production you will make sure that the deliverables are being provided according to schedule and facilitate the overall product creation process.

This job will allow you to grow personally and professionally by learning new things on a regular basis and be in touch with the newest technologies emerging in concurrent IT markets. You will help to balance the requirements of established technologies and the introduction of brand new bleeding edge technologies and help shaping the future of IT. What you are responsible for:

  • Manage the expectations and requirements from other departments towards the various Linux products.

  • Requirements Management - understand and define the scope and requirements of the product, its workflows and activities.

  • Assure that current and future product requirements are properly covered by the several engineering teams.

  • Oversee all stages of the product and its completion and therefore ensure product stays on schedule and adheres to the deadlines.

  • Create and maintains contingent planning for work forces and required hardware.

  • Manage product inter-dependencies, constantly monitor bugs and features of the Linux products.

  • Reporting of current product status to management.

  • Coordinate and liaise with all stakeholders of the product: Project Management, Product Management, Development, Quality Assurance and Support.

What we expect:

  • Experience in technical project management of software; certification in e.g. PMP, IPMA is a big plus.
  • Experience in driving and delivering a product of high complexity.
  • Excellent written, verbal English communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of working in a virtual and distributed environment.
  • Being able to navigate at ease through a culturally diverse matrix organization.
  • Ability to negotiate with the team and others to reconcile differences, ability to seek agreement and consensus across boundaries.
  • Ability to understand social perceptions. Being aware of others’ reactions and understand why they react as they do.
  • Proactive mindset. Being able to see the big picture and to foresee problems and make process improvements continuously.
  • In-depths Linux know-how, experience with Open-Source projects
  • Build- and configuration management experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
