Job Description:

   

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our team and help build innovative open source software in the container space. As part of the Container Ecosystem team, you will explore new ideas, launch new projects and be a key player in delivering solutions enriching the user experience of cloud-native platforms such as Kubernetes and making the life easier for people running containerized workloads.

We are part of the SUSE Rancher group responsible for container ecosystem products. We build open source software that addresses the operational and security challenges of managing cloud native platforms, while providing DevOps teams with integrated tools for running containerized workloads. Our flagship product SUSE Rancher has over 100 million downloads to-date and is managing mission critical services at Fortune 500 companies and many other organizations large and small around the world.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience

Knowledge and Skills:

At least 5 years’ software systems engineering or equivalent experience

Experience in cloud operations and associated systems like Terraform, Ansible, etc.

Experience with CI/CD systems like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Drone, etc.

Knowledge of the Linux landscape, containers, and emerging technologies

Experience and/or interest in Agile methodologies

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to effectively communicate product architectures and design proposals

Bonus qualifications:

Experience with build systems and development of cloud native applications

Experience with large scale, distributed systems operation

Performance instrumentation, analysis and tuning

Experience with open source development

Experience working with a distributed team. You will be expected to engage with team members across many time zones and cultures.
