Senior Data Product Manager
Tideworks is looking for a Senior Data Product Manager to help us define the data product strategy and roadmap and ensure it aligns with the overall product portfolio and Tideworks’ objectives. You’ll work with product managers, data engineers, developers, customers, and stakeholders to define, standardize, and transform data assets across our platform, accelerating the flow of data. You’ll bring deep experience of data hubs combined with relevant best practices and a passion for solving customer data problems at scale. In your work, you will oversee product execution with the “big-picture” top of mind and serve as a leader providing guidance and infusing innovation across the board from product conception to deployment. In this role you’ll ensure that the products developed and enhanced are addressing our customers strategic and tactical challenges, while also supporting the growth and sustainability of our organization.

What’s the job?

  • Participating and leading product and technology planning with leadership.
  • Directing, managing and leading the product management team responsible for data products from product conception to launch.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with Business Analysts, Product Managers, key stakeholders, partners, customers, and vendors.
  • Directing and collaborating with product teams on product design, strategy, positioning, and development to ensure features meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations, address competitive and regulatory requirements, and to support internal process excellence.
  • Ensuring product enhancements and new products are managed effectively and efficiently from start to finish.
  • Monitoring and evaluating product portfolio efficiency and performance.
  • Overseeing the development and management of the product life cycle plans for products in the overall portfolio.
  • Recommending innovative product ideas to improve sales, profitability, customer satisfaction, and address client needs.
  • Mentoring and coaching Product Managers to reach goals and achieve critical deliverables and milestones set forth on the product roadmap.
  • Create and manage against OKRs.

Our office headquarters are located south of Seattle’s bustling SODO neighborhood and industrial district, near the Port of Seattle’s Harbor Marina Corporate Center and the Starbuck’s Headquarters. Employees appreciate our digs with office views of the water and Port, and an onsite gym to enjoy. Access by car is easy from I-5 or Highway 99, and parking is free. There is also paved trail access for walking and biking from West Seattle and the SODO neighborhood.  We are currently operating remotely due to the pandemic.

Job Qualifications

  • The right person will bring some combination of the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience in data science or in a data-related product management role, including experience managing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in data hubs, data governance, and analytics applications.
  • Broad experience in EDI messaging, API management, and cloud support and integration.
  • Excellent SQL skills, with statistical programming experience (Python, R, Java, Perl, C/C++) a plus.
  • Passion for building data and analytics solutions that delight customers, ideally with experience that includes the following: managing unstructured data, ETL and data pipelines, machine learning, creating dashboards in tools like PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Advanced degree or equivalent work experience in data science.
  • Experience with the principles of design thinking, and lean and agile software delivery.
  • Experience managing large and complex projects involving Hadoop, Hive, or Pig a plus.
  • Experience in budgeting and financial management related to products preferred.
