Job Description

This position is within HP’s Customer Experience and Portfolio Strategy (CEPS) organization which is responsible for the overall experience enjoyed by our customers on HP’s Personal System (PS) devices. As part of its charter, the organization is responsible for partnering with 3rd party software and cloud services companies to generate revenue and deliver an overall positive software customer experience on HP PCs.

 

The Senior Software Business Analyst is a key role to define our business objectives, track our performance, and recommend strategies to improve.   This individual will use their expertise of software business models to define and track KPIs that help’s HP maximize Customer Lifetime Value both through the 3rd party business that the team managers, and as a consultant to other HP teams with software driven business strategies.

 

We are looking for a strategic thinker who has significant experience in analyzing business results in the software space. You will work closely with the rest of the business development team to help them analyze their partners’ performance and recommend improvements. You will also operate in close partnership with leaders in Personal Systems Finance, Product Management, and Business Planning teams to ensure 3rd party software financials are integrated into the P&L, and growth opportunities are aligned..

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops recommendation from complex data and business analyses and formulates them into business plans.
  • Drives the construction of highly innovative statistical and financial models to analyze new aspects of business performance.
  • Establishes the metrics required to measure business performance, and recommends the go-forward strategy to address performance gaps.
  • Develops and drives comprehensive business plan recommendations, based on analysis, emerging trends, and experience.
  • Identifies or develops cutting- edge analytical tools, models, and methods for making key business decisions.
  • Counsels business leaders, recommends approaches for executing high-level strategies and develops creative solutions


 

Education and Experience Required:

  • Typically 7+ years total experience in strategy, planning, operations, finance, or related functional area.   Advanced university degree required (e.g., MBA) or demonstrable equivalent experience.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Superior business acumen and technical knowledge related to consumer software and web services
  • Extensive knowledge of how to analyze business problems using Excel, statistical analysis, and financial modeling
  • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to define creative approaches to size business opportunities with limited data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting financial results to executives
  • Ability to lead multiple, large, time sensitive projects or work streams.
  • Ability to identify emerging trends from market and industry data, and make clear and compelling business planning recommendations.
